Mansions With A Backdrop Of Beaches
Some dream of living this close to New York City and the ocean. The Gold Coast mansions are a lifestyle dream come true for most of the residence. The people, in general, are helpful and friendly. However, many Long Island mansions do have long driveways, security systems, and fencing in some cases. The canals that run throughout the Island were an idea that came about after World War I. During this time, many were urged to have a country home if they had ways to make this happen. To get out of New York City and breathe fresh air for their health, without taking a long trip. Long Island communities are where they landed.
However, the south beach of Long Island at the time was marsh-like and full of mosquitos. A real estate developer had the idea to start building canals and raise the land for building. They were selling the properties with the idea, “You can park your car in the front and boat in the back.” It was a beautiful idea that took off. These communities were thriving until the Great Depression.
And, the seafood. The seafood here is amazing, just as you may find in other spots on the East Coast, freshly caught and apart of the culture. The Gold Coast mansions offer a lifestyle that many dream of. The amazing views, food, art, neighbors, golf, fishing and boating communities are so enjoyable. There is room to breathe the fresh ocean air.
However, living this close to the ocean can bring added expenses and worries. The ocean is not a force to reckon with, and storms can get somewhat brutal. However, if you talk to the locals, it is all worth it. Every last worry during a storm. Many of the homes will need additional insurance to cover any damages done by these powerful sea storms.
